Why buy American?
Whenever an American buys an American-made product, a majestic, rippling American flag magically appears somewhere in the country (like in these American flag photos). You know what else happens? The purchase becomes more than just a purchase. It becomes an investment in the future of the American economy. That’s because a purchase increases the demand for whatever you just purchased. Demand increases price until supply increases to meet it, which will require more people to work, which allows more money to be spent. If people are spending on American-made things, the cycle continues. If they’re spending on imports, then the dollars they used disappear with the purchase.
Think about it this way: the $10 you spend on buying something made in America goes directly into that worker’s pocket. Then they use it to pay their babysitter. Then the babysitter uses it to buy gas. The cashier gives it as change to someone else, who uses it to pay for their college textbook, and so on. That $10 is suddenly worth a lot more! The money stays circulating in the economy, and hundreds of people get use out of it to pay for the essential things we all need (like 4th of July decorations!). In other words, when you buy American-made things, you’re helping keep the money where it’s needed: in the hands of everyday Americans. Buying American can actually make a real difference in the lives of your community and neighbors. Patriotism isn’t just for Independence Day, although it is one of the best 4th of July ideas.
So, if you’re interested in keeping some of that money on the table for real, then it’s a good idea to consider making an effort to patronize American business. You can check to see if whatever store you’re browsing has a “Made in America” or “Made in the U.S.A.” department or search capability, or look for smaller businesses.

Raw Generation is a father-daughter operation with an incredibly inspiring origin story. In a nutshell, as Bill Geier and Jessica Geier were mourning the loss of several loved ones to cancer, they were awakened to how our food choices impact our health. If you can think of a sport involving riding a “board,” then you can be pretty sure the craftsmen who make up the cooperative of Lib Tech craftsmen are busy making a board for it. All their manufacturing happens in the United States, and their website asks readers to “support American craftsmen.” Lib Tech had to shut their factory for a few months in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but they should be back up and running very soon.
Skyline Furniture Wingback Low Profile King Bed
Skyline Furniture was founded in 1946, by Norman Wecker, whose father-in-law owned an upholstery factory. When Norman returned from World War II, he was ready to start the next chapter in the family business, proudly opening his own furniture factory in the suburbs of the South Side of Chicago. Battle Creek, Michigan was once known as the Cereal Capital of the World. While at least two major cereal companies, Post and General Mills, have relocated their corporate headquarters to Minnesota, Post’s Battle Creek plant continues to manufacture Honey Bunches of Oats, as well as several other of Posts’ more popular brands. Tillamook Cheddar dairy products
For more than a century, Tillamook, a farmer-owned co-op from Tillamook, Oregon comprised of about 80 farmers, has been making the highest quality dairy products using the most responsible practices. But what the Tillamook co-op is most famous for is its Tillamook Cheddar. Cheddar, which was first made in the English village of Cheddar in the 12th century, is popular enough nowadays that it has its own holiday: National Cheddar Day, which not surprisingly was started by the folks at Tillamook.
Mast chocolate
Mast chocolate has the requisite millennial pedigree: It began life in Brooklyn, when the young Mast Brothers decided they wanted to get into the confectionary business. But life got in the way in the most delightful of ways, and the brothers ended up moving their facilities and their families to Westchester County (just north of the northernmost part of New York City). Dum Dums Lollipops
These sweet, little lollipops are made by Spangler Candy in Ohio. They also make candy canes (a portion of their candy canes are produced in Mexico) and marshmallows candies. NECCO Wafers
New England Confectionery Company, which has been making candy at its Revere-Massachusetts facilities since 1847. made the sad announcement in 2018 that it would cease production of its iconic candies, which include NECCO Wafters and candy “conversation” hearts (the ones with messages on them for Valentine’s Day). Despite NECCO Wafer’s unusual and perhaps a bit old-fashioned flavors (including licorice, wintergreen, clove, and cinnamon), the fanbase was “shook,” until white knight, Spangler Candy (mentioned above) purchased the entire operation. Expect NECCO Wafters to back on the shelves by mid-summer. Yay!

It’s been almost a century now that Utz has been making its potato chips out of its Harrisburg, Pennsylvania factory. And you’ve probably gotten so used to seeing them in vending machines and convenience what stores, it’s almost like you don’t notice them at all anymore.
